FSC TARGETS STUDENTS WITH AMILO RANGE
Friday, August 12, 2005
With recent studies showing that each school PC in use in the European Union is, on average, shared by as many as twenty-five pupils, the market is wide open for laptops targeted at students. As a direct response, Fujitsu-Siemens is coinciding the start of the new academic year with the release of four new additions to its Amilo range – all geared towards educational use.
Combining Intel Centrino and Mobile AMD specified systems, the latest Amilo laptops mark additions to the Amilo M, L and A series. At the top of the scale is the Amilo M7440, built around an Intel Pentium M processor with a 15-inch TFT screen.
For more discerning budgets, the Amilo L1310G and Amilo L7300 are available, both powered by Intel Celeron processors with a choice of 15-inch TFT screen or 15.4-inch widescreen panel.
Finally, providing forward compatibility is the Amilo A1645G, again utilising a 15.4-inch TFT widescreen panel, but instead built around AMD Turion technology for 64-bit compatibility.
With all laptops providing built-in recordable DVD compatibility, including dual-layer support, as well as integrated Wi-Fi, the latest Amilo systems aim to provide ample power for students on a budget. Available at the start of the school year, pricing is yet to be confirmed.
